- Cat owners are less likely to seek veterinary care than dog owners.
- Cat owners are more likely to have more than 1 cat (dog owners are less likely to have multiple dogs.)

Service Animals: Not Just Dogs

Spread the word – service animals can be cats, too! I just read this interesting article about a Vietnam vet with post-traumatic stress disorder. His doctor wrote him a prescription for a service pet, but stated that he plans on having a cat. Unfortunately, this man has been denied access to several public places despite the fact that the Americans with Disablities Act defines a service animal as “any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.” A service pet does not have to be certified or licensed by a local or state government.

Crazy Cat Laws

FelineFollies.com has compiled a list of crazy cat laws. Here are a few: Cats may not yowl in Columbus, Georgia after 9 p.m. California bans cats from mating publicly within 1500 feet of a school, tavern or church. Dogcatchers in Virginia are prohibited from bothering cats while looking for dogs. Check out the full list here.

$10 Million Dollar Cat

A cat in Japan is responsible for pumping 10 million U.S. dollars into the local economy and saving a train line from bankruptcy. Apparently the cat liked to hang out at the train station so they started promoting her as the “Super Station Master.” Tourists from all over are flocking to see her. You can read more about this special kitty and see a picture of her in her conductor’s hat here.
